Held every three years in conjunction with our General Assembly, the IFOAM Organic World Congress (OWC) is the premier global gathering for the organic sector. It brings together stakeholders from across the organic value chain to exchange knowledge, build partnerships, and advance solutions for sustainable food and farming systems.
Beyond a traditional conference, the OWC operates as a dynamic ecosystem of activities. Through intensive pre-conferences, our foundational General Assembly, vibrant side-events, and a large-scale organic exhibition, the event fosters a rich exchange of cross-cultural experiences, cutting-edge innovations, and time-honored agricultural knowledge. Participants actively collaborate to tackle pressing global challenges, including climate resilience, biodiversity loss, and the transition toward truly sustainable food systems.
Dating back to its inception in 1977, the Congress has established a proud legacy as the beating heart of the organic movement. It forges lasting international partnerships, helps shape future agricultural policies, and provides extraordinary inspiration, empowering the global community to champion a healthier, more sustainable world. The OWC rotates its location across different continents, therefor democratizng access to these critical conversations while bringing unprecedented global visibility and economic momentum to the host country.
Negros Occidental, Philippines is the proud host of the upcoming 22nd IFOAM Organic World Congress.
As the “Organic Food Bowl of the Philippines,” Negros Occidental offers an unmatched setting for this prestigious event. Known for its rich cultural heritage and pioneering commitment to sustainable farming, the province will foster dynamic networking, vital knowledge exchange, and forward-thinking discussions.
Just as the OWC dates back to the 70s, so does the grassroots organic movement in Negros Occidental. Pioneered by civil society, organic agriculture eventually received instrumental support from private sector engagement and tangible support from the local government through policies and programs. Today, the province boasts over 16,000 hectares of agricultural land devoted to organic, and more than 17,000 organic farmers and stakeholders.
We invite you to join us in Negros Occidental to help shape the future of global agroecology. Together, we are building a healthier, more equitable world. Stay tuned for registration and program updates—we look forward to seeing you in the Philippines!
